Who Am I

Jun 14, 2018

Who Am I brings together a vibrant collection of works created by young people who have recently arrived in Darwin as refugees or migrants. The exhibition offers a space for these emerging artists to explore identity, belonging, and the experience of building a new life far from home.

Developed in partnership with local youth programs, the project supports participants to express their stories through painting, drawing, and mixed media. Each artwork reflects a personal journey — from memories of home to the challenges and hopes that shape settlement in the Top End.

Among the featured artists is Kiden Clement, whose bold, rhythmic compositions draw on cultural heritage and the role of music in community life. Her work sits alongside pieces from other young creators, forming a collective portrait of resilience, creativity, and self‑definition.

Who Am I invites audiences to listen, look, and connect with the voices of young people navigating new beginnings, and celebrates the power of art as a tool for expression and empowerment.
